Since I was Underweight, I couldn't make it that time. After those 3 Months & 50+ Donors have donated Blood.

I completed my 1st Blood donation to 9Yrs Kaanappan😅 

Donating platelets was a dream for me as my physic was lean and I had low body weight.

Then I took a challenging 3 months of diet, gained weight and donated platelets.

I am vikas mardia jain

I started donating blood right from 1994 when i joined my college DG VAISHNAV

I kept donating regularly as it gave me peace of mind and utmost that great feeling of having saved a LIFE

A few years back i was contacted by a lady called isha who asked me  to join for just a casual meet to create awareness regarding BLOOD DONATION and its importance  --- I JOINED VOLUNTARILY to a group called TEAM BLEED

But then one fine day here comes this simple looking yet Amazing guy --- SRIVATSA VEMA

I was really overwhelmed to see this guy helping those needy n poor patients in ICH,  selflessly,  wholeheartedly and infinitely

I was touched n just thought that YES,  this is what i shud also do and its the most simplest n straight forward way to help other fellow humans

The best part is --- when i got a call last year in Feb 2019. It was a call from someone who wanted blood donor for his father who was suppose to be operated next day.  He asked me if i cud donate the next day morning by 7am at MMM hospital mogappair.  Although i had to leave to ahmedabad next day morning,  but i reached MMM at 6.45am n donated blood

After donating,  when i met the patient's son,  the kind of happiness i saw in his eyes ---- JUST PRICELESS

This is what makes blood / platelet donation different from any other donation in this world --- ITS PRICELESS

Dear all,  I am a regular blood donor wherever I was stationed during my official carrier. In the year 2019 after watching the chat in the group and the requirements of platelets to the needy patients, I was inspired. One day when I called upon  Srivatsa vema to donate my blood, he was educating me about platelets donation, and having understood the importance and need of the hour to the needy patients, from that day I stopped donating blood but instead commenced donating platelets. Thanks to Sri. Varma for giving me the opportunity and I will continue to do so so long GOD or age permits. Thanks.

I started blood donation in my ug 2nd year. One of my yrc senior called me for blood donation.I don't know anything about blood donation when I  entered blood bank in kmch coimbatore. I am totally scared. Then blood Bank staffs are clearly  explained the process . After the blood donation they gave 2 pack  of mazaa with smiling face.i won't forgot his face in my life time.

This my first blood donation experience.then I continued blood donation frequently.

After my college I was joined the one of marketing company in chennai.one day I saw my friend what's app status like urgent B+be blood in Rajiv Gandhi hospital.my friend gave Srivastava contact number .then I contacted him.he was explained the platelet donation processes. Then I was donated platelet in Rajiv Gandhi hospital.hope i will donate platelet frequently.

I just finished my engineering at that time and went to chennai in Search of job.

On one fine day, srivasta vema called me and asked me whether i am available to donate or not.

I had no job and no duties or commitment, so i started from Sunnambu kolathur. 

My heart was filled with fear and had no information on what i gonna donate. 

All i thought is I am a life saver now.

I had no breakfast on that day. 

Caught the bus to mount road.

Went to greams road apollo, instead of teynampet apollo. Then took an auto to teynampet.

I waited in the blood bank waiting area and I was worried "will I get rejected ? "

The blood bank staff "her name is Chandra"

There started my first donation.

I went to see the kid to whom i donated platelets and her name was Lakshitha from woraiyur.

She looked alike my 4 year old niece.

I had a promising talk with them and it was my most wonderful moment of giving someone a hope to live.

There started my travel with platelet donation.

Hi

Due to heavy work load i thought to drink beer to get hangover at 7pm. But i got some thoughts like dont do now,

Will do later.

So i keep on postponing the beer thoughts 2 hours.

After 9 pm got a call from my friend need blood urgently for his friend mother.

That time i can't explain the feeling what i got.

சென்னையில் ஒரு நாள்

சென்னையில் ஒரு நாள்,

நாங்கள் Platelet Club ,வெளியூரில் இருந்து சென்னை வந்து சிகிச்சை எடுத்து கொள்ளும் புற்றுநோய் போராளிகளுக்கு தேவையான இரத்தம் மற்றும் தட்டனு (platelet) தேவைகளை பூர்த்தி செய்யும் நோக்கத்தோடு தன்னார்வளர்களாக ஒன்று சேர்ந்து உதவி வருகிறோம்.

இக்குழும உறுப்பினர் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஒரு தட்டனு கொடையாளி (Platelet Donor) என்பது எங்கள் தனி சொத்து.
ஒரு முறை தட்டனு தானம் செய்வதன் மூலம், ஒருவர் எங்கள் குழுமத்தின் உறுப்பினராகிறார்.

இக்குழுமத்தை ஒருங்கிணைப்பவர் ஸ்ரீவட்ஸவேமா. இவரது அன்றாட வழக்கம், தினமும் காலையில் எந்த எந்த மருத்துவமனையில் என்னன்ன இரத்தம் மற்றும் தட்டனு தேவை இருக்கிறது என்பதை அறிந்து, அதை குழு உறுப்பினர்களிடம் பகிர்ந்து, யார் அதில் தானம் செய்ய தயாராக உள்ளார் என தெரிந்துகொண்டு ; அதை மருத்துவமனை மற்றும் நோயாளியின் குடும்பத்தினருக்கு தெரிவித்து அவர்களின் சுமையை குறைப்பதே ஆகும்.

இதை தவிர தமிழகத்தின் வெவ்வேறு இடங்களில் உள்ள இரத்த தேவைகளையும் தனது நட்பு வட்டாரத்தின் துணையோடு பூர்த்தி செய்து வருகிறார்.

இவ்வாறு வழக்க நாட்கள் வலுவிழந்த புயலென கடக்க,

மே 8ஆம் நாள் ராஜீவ் காந்தி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் இருந்து சுரேஷ் என்ற புற்றுநோய் போராளிக்கு இரத்த தேவை இருப்பதாக தெரிய வந்தது.

இதுவும் வழக்கம் போல சாதாரண இரத்த தேவையாக இருக்கும் என எண்ணி வழக்கம் போல் கையாண்டோம். அந்த தொலைபேசி அழைப்பின் இறுதியில் தான் தெரிந்தது  அவரது இரத்த பிரிவு பாம்பே பாஸிட்டிவ் (Bombay Positive) என்று !

பாம்பே பாஸிட்டிவ் என்பது மிக அரிதான இரத்த வகையாகும் இது 1952 ஆம் ஆண்டு பாம்பேயில் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. மக்கள் தொகையில் 0.0004 % பேர் தான் பாம்பே பாஸிட்டிவ் இரத்தவகையை சார்ந்தவர்கள்.

பாம்பேயில் மட்டும் 10000தில் ஒருவர் பாம்பே பாஸிட்டிவாக இருப்பார் என்றும் இப்பெயற்காரணியை விளக்குகிறது ஒரு புள்ளியியல் செய்தி.

The h/h blood group, also known as Oh or the Bombay blood group, is a rare blood type. This blood phenotype was first discovered in Bombay, now known as Mumbai, in India, by Dr. Y. M. Bhende in 1952. It is mostly found in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Iran.

This very rare phenotype is generally present in about 0.0004% (about 4 per million) of the human population, though in some places such as Mumbai (formerly Bombay) locals can have occurrences in as much as 0.01% (1 in 10,000) of inhabitants ]

இதை அறிந்து, எங்கெல்லாம் பாம்பே பாஸிட்டிவ் கை இருப்பு உள்ளது என தேடினோம். திருப்பதியில் இருப்பதாக அறிந்து மே 9 அன்று தொடர்பு கொண்டோம்.

நேரம் கடக்க நாமே சென்று எடுத்துவரலாம் என்று முடிவெடுக்கும் சூழலில், எங்களது வழக்கமான தட்டனு கொடையாளி அருணன் ராமநாதன் - தான் எடுத்து வருவதாக ஒப்புக்கொண்டு, இரவு 8.30 மணிக்கு இரத்தத்தை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு பேருந்து ஏறினார்.

காலை 3 மணிக்கு சென்னை வந்தடைந்தார், அவரது நண்பரின் உதவியுடன் தானே சென்று காலை 4.30 மணிக்கு இரத்தத்தை ராஜிவ்காந்தி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்த்தார்.

இப்பொழுது சுரேஷின் சிகிச்சை நடைபெற்று கொண்டிருக்கிறது. அவர் போராட்டத்தில் அதி விரைவில் வெல்வார்.

இவ்விடத்தில் whatsapp status க்கு நான் இரண்டு நாட்கள் கழித்து சென்னை வருகிறேன், தேவை இருந்தால் சொல்லுங்கள் என்று கூறிய நண்பர்களுக்கும், நான் எடுத்து வருகிறேன் கூறிய அருணனுக்கும் எங்கள் நெஞ்சார்ந்த நன்றிகள்.

Where it starts ?

You receive a WhatsApp forward message with details of a patient requesting your help for blood.

The patient may be your neighbour, friend, friend of friend, parent of your friend and may be anyone you may know or may not know.

What you actually do ?

You forward it to another group and someone in that group shares the same in some other group and it goes on as a long chain without any solution.


Self-evaluation or question yourself

You see someone seeking help and you forward it to someone.

* Do you think its humanity ?
* Do you think your responsibility ends there ?
* Do you think the needy gets satisfied because you do forward it ?

Let me give you some useful tips that you can do on hearing about a blood need or any blood component need.

Before working on a blood / blood component need, please note to ask the following questions to the patient's attender :

(Note: You may ask " what ! Asking questions to the persons who are in need ? " "Yuck- how hurting it would be "

My reply to you would be "Its better to ask questions rather than forwarding the request to someone")


Please make sure you ask the following questions to them :

1) Which hospital is that a private one or the government one ?

2) Does the hospital has a blood bank ?

3) If blood bank is there, the blood bank has enough stock of the required blood or not ?

4) If stock is available, will that hospital accept any blood group donor as replacement for the consumed unit of required blood ?

5) If yes and you are available nearby, you go and donate for them and ask their relatives to donate and close the request.

6) If the hospital don't have any blood bank, ask the hospital staff or doctors for their preferred private blood bank nearby and contact the blood bank for availability of required blood and repeat points 4 & 5.

7) In case of non-availability of blood stock,
Start your search with WhatsApp status. (In many cases the neighbour you fight may be the same required blood group, your ego may stop you from seeking help from them. "PLEASE UNDERSTAND, SOME BAD TIMES WILL COME IN OUR LIFE TO CREATE A BOND AND UNDERSTAND THE CARE, LOVE AND REAL FACE OF PEOPLE WHO SURROUND YOU".

8) Some options to search blood are as follows :

If your requirement is positive blood group you can find it over Whats-app status and by calling your friends. (while sharing in WhatsApp status or any other social media platforms, please enter the date of request along with the details and add your mobile number as contact details due to the following reasons)

#  On sharing the original attender number, many people may call them for verification and constantly disturb them in such a tensed situation. 

#  Sharing a request with the date of requirement will avoid spam circulation of blood requirements. (for e.g. Mr. Sudhir and his family went through a car accident and their kidneys are exclusively available only on WhatsApp for almost 4 years now.)

# When the request is being shared without phone number, when someone takes responsibility and checks it; the patient may or may not be alive and it may remind them the scenario and hurt them again.

Friends 2 support is a awesome website which helps you to get a list of donors in the region you are in need.

They have android app as well to get donors.

(Note : Taking a screenshot of donors and sending the list to the person in need is the most embarrassing thing, you take responsibility and verify if anyone from the list is available or not.

If you don’t want to do that please don't get involved )

● Seek help from online communities and groups you know. Your school friends Facebook page, your locality Facebook page or anything it may be.

( Note : No one will volunteer, if you don't ask them.

Volunteer - the word has transformed a lot due to lot of corrupted minds being involved for praising and self-praising mentality of some human )

● On failing the above methods do contact the blood organizers or Whats App groups you are in for blood donation.

● While sharing the blood requirement to the blood organizers, please do share the original attenders contact details.

THE GOOD DEEDS OF A QUALITY VOLUNTEER :

  

On seeing a WhatsApp message with any medical emergency requirement, please do the following:

#Call and check for the current status of the requirement.

#If the requirement is alive, please collect the following details:

1. Name of the patient:

2. Which blood group is needed :

3. How many units are needed :

4. Which hospital ?

5. Hospital has blood bank or where to donate ?

6. Blood is needed or any other blood components ?

7. Attender name ?

8. Attender phone number ?

9. Where attender / patient works ? (In case of MNC or companies with huge population, we can request the company HR for inter circular requesting the colleagues to come forward and donate)

10. Date of operation (or) date on which the blood is required.

11. Age of the patient ?

12. Problem / Case for which the blood is required. (e.g. Pregnancy, Heart surgery)

Provide the collected details on time to the blood co-ordinators when you fail to satisfy the need on the day before the operation
